Past Projects

Grow The Future (GTF) is a social enterprise based in Bega with the core aim of having a positive impact on 12–24 year-olds. Through growing food and regenerating the land, GTF offers training, engagement and employment opportunities for young people in a hands-on, outdoor, supportive environment.

In its first two project years, 2023-24, GTF operated as a SCPA/South East Producers Project. During that time, more than 200 young people were engaged and a two-acre urban farm was developed in Bega, were accredited training courses built skills among the trainees, while helping feed the community and support local resilience.

GTF has since branched out, securing significant sources of external funding, becoming a limited company and obtaining charity status.

On the ground, plans for expansion have continued, including expanded growing opportunities as a result of grants of access to additional land, produce boxes are now being sold, while work is underway to establish a nursery, all in the interests of growing opportunities to train young people.

SCPA is proud to have had a role in getting Callum Champagne’s original vision up and running, and congratulates both Callum and his fellow co-ordinator, Vanessa Spinelli for setting this project on a successful trajectory.
