Bega Produce Market

The Bega Produce Market is held every Friday from 8am – 1pm at Littleton Gardens, Bega.

The demand for ethically produced , local products, including food is growing and as more producers join our market, they add life to our  local food system. The market is run by South East Producers, formerly South East Producers.

Aims of the Bega Produce Market

To encourage the growth of local and South East regional Producers.
To provide producers with direct marketing for their products.
To provide consumers with fresh, regional and seasonal produce, food and goods.
To support the environment by reducing ‘food miles’.
To support the environment by encouraging regenerative growing practices.
To support the environment by discouraging wasteful packaging such as single use items (eg: coffee cups, plastic bags etc)
Through direct producer/customer contact, develop an understanding in the Public of the true value of regionally produced goods.
‘Local’ means within a 250 km radius of Bega.

‘Producer’ means small business in character, not mass produced.

What can you expect to find at the Markets?

You can expect to find local (within 250 km radius) products that are produced by small-scale producers. Stall holders will have a range of goods on offer, including:

To provide consumers with fresh seasonal produce, locally made food and goods.

To encourage the growth of local and South East regional Producers.

Through direct producer/customer contact to develop an understanding in the public of the true value of locally produced goods.

To support the environment by reducing the ‘food miles’ travelled, lower transport costs and carbon footprint.

To provide producers with direct marketing for their products.

Interested in becoming a stallholder?

If you have locally grown or produced products and are a financial member of South East Producers, you are able to have a stall at the markets.We welcome enquiries from primary, secondary and tertiary producers.

Types of Stallholders

  • Primary Producer – one who only sells what they produce e.g. market gardeners, egg producers.
  • Secondary Producer – one who processes produce, creates a product, or adds value to a producteg jams, chutney, ferments, bee’s wax products, goats milk soap.  . This processing must be done according to the Food Health and Safety Standards. The use of local products and produce is strongly encouraged..
  • Tertiary Producer – one who prepares ready to eat foods for sale. Operators must comply with the Food Health and Safety Standards and hold a current Food Safety Supervisors Certificate. The use of local products and produce is strongly encouraged. .

A stallholder may be any one of these types, but may also consist of more than one of the types listed above. For example, a stallholder may sell their own produce (Producer), & also sell their neighbours produce (Representative) providing it is in accordance the above mentioned Bega Produce Markets Product Requirement guidelines.

Stall Fees

  • Regular Stall Site – A 3×3 metre area. $15 per market ($12 for South East Producers Members).
  • Community group/Charity Stall Site – A 3×3 metre area. $12 per market.
  • Powered stall site – extra $5.

Applying for a Site

  • Complete Online Stall Holder Application and market coordinator will contact you after review of application.
  • Apply for a stall one week in advance i.e., no later than 5pm Thursday, the week before you wish to attend market.
  • Public Liability Insurance of $20 million minimum required.
