A grassroots gathering to re-ignite and cross-pollinate

The South East Bioregional Permaculture Convergence (SEBPCon 2026) is a three-day community gathering to be held over the weekend of 23-25th October 2026 at Mumbulla School, and BEND (Bega Environment and Neighbourhood Development).

The event brings together permaculture practitioners, food producers, First Nations knowledge holders, and people interested in regenerative living across our broad bioregion— from Wollongong in the north, inland to Canberra, and south to the Victorian border.

The event will be shaped by those who are gathered, so bring your experience, curiosity and ideas to contribute to hands-on workshops, thoughtful discussions and collective learning.

The vision is a grassroots, low-cost, family-friendly convergence — grounded in this place, nourished by locally grown food, and run as a zero-waste event. Entry fees will be minimal, covering costs only. Run in the spirit of early permaculture convergences: open, community-led, and energised by participation and volunteerism.
With three days of skill-sharing, two nights of accommodation and all meals included in your ticket, this event will be a time to connect, learn and play.

A morning circle with all participants to share information will be a daily feature of this convergence

What to expect?

All-in group sessions connecting people and place: morning circles, visionary and plenary workshops, hearing from Permaculture groups and projects across the region

Participant-led cross-pollinating of knowledge: skill-sharing with hands-on workshops, knowledge-share with discussion circles, presentations and thoughtful conversations, some programmed, some open-space, so come prepared to add your workshop to the list on the day if you aren’t already part of the programme.

Space to play and relax: bring your games (frisbee, slacklines etc) for group play, your art to share (weaving, nature mandalas etc) and your instrument/s of choice for spontaneous jams and blackboard sessions. Art is the most powerful way to communicate change.

Children and family spaces: activities to inspire collaboration and fun

Stalls for projects to cross-pollinate: bring your information, art or produce table (no ready-to-eat food stalls please) to connect in real time with your community and build connections with others in the same space

Simple and delicious, locally sourced shared meals by local food providers at Mumbulla Hall for dinner Friday, lunch and dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday. Breakfasts are DIY in the Bend Camping space.

An opportunity to camp on-site at Bend for 2 nights or find accommodation nearby and enter the convergence site daily.

Everyone will contribute to the weekend in small, shared ways (such as a kitchen shift, facilitating a workshop or helping newly arrived campers get settled).

There is no pressure to attend everything or contribute to a presentation. You’re free to move through the weekend in a way that suits your skills, energy and interests.

A space for families and children is a special part of the convergence
